Hello everyone and welcome back. As I’ve been thinking more about my blog and what I should and shouldn’t write about, one thing that kept on popping up in my mind over and over again were my plants.
Since I was little, I always lived around people, mainly women, who loved plants. They were something that were not only a feature of a room like a piece of furniture but something that was full of life. Something to talk to and learn more about. As I grew up and moved off to college, I carried along with me two little plants, a golden pothos and peace lily, propagated from my mom’s indoor garden that I could continue to tend in my new home.

As time bore on this collection continued to grow. Little by little I would find and collect cool and interesting plants to add to my ever-growing collection. With this hobby, I was able to join groups both online and in-person to learn more about plants and share amongst ourselves.
So today, I want to take the time to introduce you to some of my favorite plants in my collection. As time goes on, I hope to share more and maybe give some care tips along the way.
One of the earliest plants I added to my collection after leaving grad-school and coming into more space was a monstera deliciosa. When I went to the plant nursery, I was immediately attracted to the foliage and how full it looked. I thought it really brought life into any room it found itself in.
At this point in time, I have now had this plant for many years and have been able to propagate and share the love with friends and family. Being able to see a plant I love bring new life into another’s home always feels great and knowing that they’re not going to immediately kill it like other less hardy plants always feels good too.

Next on my list is my Hawaiian Umbrella Bonsai. As far as plants go, I’m relatively new to the bonsai world. Before this particular bonsai, I had only ever had one before with varying degrees of success.
The Hawaiian Umbrella Bonsai was a gift from my partner that I’ve always loved to have nearby. I always find the leaves to be so unique and happy looking. If you are new to the bonsai world, I would definitely recommend a Hawaiian Umbrella as safe starting point.

My next plant on this list is the hibiscus. Since I was a kid, my mother always kept Hibiscus plants. Hibiscus plants to me just scream warm weather and summertime. I always found the colors stunning and so full of life. Every time I see this plant I’m immediately put into a good mood and stop and smile.

Now my final plant on this list is the infamous Monstera Albo. I’ll admit it, I bought into the craze a few years ago and procured one online. This was a plant I saw repeatedly on social media and online. Anybody who was anybody had one and I just needed it.

I was able to find a generously sized cutting, already rooted, from a little Etsy shop to grow. The Monstera Albo for me was a new challenge, something different from what I already had in my collection. While initially slow growing, through the spring and summer my little cutting put out leaf after leaf after leaf. With time I was able to take a cutting to propagate again to create a fuller look in my ever-growing monster.
While some of my plants came to me full grown, many of them are slowly grown and cared for from small cuttings. This monstera albo is just another one of my gardening projects and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
I hope everyone enjoyed getting a peak at some of my favorite plants and learning a bit about one of my hobbies. Let me know below what you think. What are some of your favorite plants?
